BLOTTER PAGE DOODLES

This ongoing series is essentially a fun exercise in free-association drawing. When working on watercolour images, I keep a "blotter page" handy - an extra piece of watercolour paper that I use to test colours, or blot off extra paint from my brush. This eventually results in a full page of colourful, often interlocking blobs.

I keep these pages at my desk, and when I need a quick break, I revisit them, trying to find images hidden in the blobs, drawing over them using ink & white gel pens to create tiny (anywhere from 1/8 - 1inch) little drawings. Finding these little hidden friends (and foes) is one of my favourite ways to unwind while working.
